| SWTR: What do you think
about Death of Chewbacca which takes place in EU?
P.Mayhew: Chewie went out
heroically and I especially liked the ending of the Unifying Force
where Anakin's lightsaber is placed with Chewie's memorial....
SWTR: What do you feel about being involved in SW after 22 years?
P.Mayhew: I
haven't been far from Star Wars since the beginning. I did take some
years off, but it's been my pleasure to be a part of a worldwide
family of fans.
SWTR: How was your relationship with Harrison Ford?
P.Mayhew: Harrison and I got
along well on set and I think that it showed in all the movies. He's
a very nice man and I have great respect for him.
SWTR: Which was the most difficult scene that you played in SW movies?
P.Mayhew: Probably one that's yet to come...
SWTR: Is there any event that you had during the movies you couldn't
forget?
P.Mayhew: The Chess game scene with the droids is my personal
favorite, the ice world of Hoth was the most unforgettable. I was,
of course, the warmest person on the planet, but even that wasn't
very warm.
SWTR: Is there any scene we can see you without the costume that we
could not notice?
P.Mayhew: Sorry, unfortunately, no.
SWTR: Would you like Lucas to shoot episode 7-8-9 and if it happens
would you like to be there again?
P.Mayhew: I would prefer that question not
be asked.
SWTR: As of today, some of the SW Fan sites claims that you also signed
for a sequel trilogy. Their source is a British movie magazine
called "Hot Dog". Is there any truth in these claims?
P.Mayhew: No, and I
didn't even do that interview.
SWTR: How many Chewie costume do you have? How much time it takes for
you to get ready, especially make up?
P.Mayhew: I don't have any Chewie
costumes, what I have is a wonderful collection of Chewie themed
gifts from fans around the world. I have several large cases where I
keep them on display. The makeup and everything for the new costume
takes about 25 minutes to put on.
SWTR: When you had the first SW movie have you ever thought you would be
that famous and have so many fans?
P.Mayhew: Hmm, well, I don't know that I am
famous, but I do enjoy my time that I spend with the fans at the
conventions. Some of the best people in the world....
SWTR: Do you think is there any movie has the same quality as SW and
what is your favorite movie except SW and who is your favorite
director?
P.Mayhew: I have a huge fancy for The Lord of The Rings, as I'm sure
most Star Wars fans do. My favorite director is of course, George
Lucas.
SWTR: Can you define G. Lucas with one sentence, how does it feel like
working with him?
P.Mayhew: George is calm and collected and one of the most
talented men on the planet....he's a joy to work with.
SWTR: Which character effected you most in SW movies?
P.Mayhew: R2D2, he saves the
rebellion and the Skywalkers every time.
SWTR: In an interview, David Prowse stated that because of his massive
frame he was offered the roles of Darth Vader &Chewbacca. In the end
he chose Darth Vader, because he thought the character would be a
long remembered one. Do you ever think that "I wish he went for the
role of Chewie, and I became Darth Vader" ?
P.Mayhew: No, never.
SWTR: What is your message to Turkish Star Wars and Chewie fans ?
P.Mayhew: I
think that it's wonderful to have a cultural medium that can bring
people together all over the world. We should consider ourselves
Citizens of the Galaxy. Aren't we fortunate to live in a world where
communications are instant and we have the internet to facilitate
our getting to know one another. May the Force Be With You |
